Step Two: Business Review
The second step to any successful business is scary: Know the Truth.
The second phase of service that we offer is often the most uncomfortable for clients and yet, it is the vehicle for effecting the largest amount of impact on your company.
In business, correctly input data never lies. Business owners begin their businesses because of a passion for the service they chose to provide. “The Business” takes on its own life and becomes as precious as a child. As difficult as it is to hear that a child or animal is misbehaving, it is 10 times harder to hear that your company is in bad “health”. Regardless, in order to grow, you need to know the truth.
The “health assessment” contains 4 key elements
- Compliance Check: Get rich quick schemes and cutting corners work out short term only, if at all. This service is intended to outline the compliance health of your company. We will dig deep into licenses, tax filings, insurance coverage, payroll and HR- then we will create a plan to get your company into full compliance for the future.
- Financial Health: You may be tempted to hide here. Going over business and personal finances can make you feel vulnerable, uncomfortable, sad and defensive. This step is the make it or break it of any company. Your business is perfectly designed to provide you with the life you are currently living. If you are happy with that life, your financial health is likely high. If there is room for improvement, this is a step in which transparency and honesty are crucial.
- Process Review: Oh processes. This is our favorite part! Our niche! Our reason “why”. Often small business owners are so busy working “in their business” that there is little to no time to work “on their business”. This step looks at processes that you have in place and day to day operations of your company. Process implementation and management is the primary building block for growth and expansion. A business that relies on people will always succumb to instability as people change. “People come and go but the systems remain constant” (Michael Gerber, E-Myth Revisited).
- On Site Visual: Front end matters too! What do customers see, feel, experience when hiring you? This is the one slightly objective part of the audit, however, we will build out a rubric that will focus on your type of company and the people you plan to provide service to. Your business pricing will be directly affected by the customer experience. If you want to raise prices, you need to raise the expectations that your customers expect to receive.
Step Three: Process Implementation
The final and ongoing step to any successful business: Management.
You will hear Business Angels say it over and over again, this is the heart of our company. Creating and implementing processes to increase productivity and success is our passion!
This step is lifelong. New programs and techniques come out daily. We continually adjust this step by providing annual health assessments (step 2) and making the required adjustments to your processes.
